How D3 and K2 work - and why they belong together.
Vitamin K2 - specifically the all-trans MK-7 form - activates two proteins critical to calcium regulation: osteocalcin, which binds calcium to bone mineral, and Matrix Gla Protein (MGP), which inhibits calcium from depositing in arteries and other soft tissues. The result is a complementary mechanism: D3 brings calcium in; K2 makes sure it ends up in the right place.
Together, they support bone mineral density, immune function, and cardiovascular health - particularly important for adults over 50, when both D3 synthesis in the skin (from sunlight) and dietary K2 intake tend to decline.
- D3: 5,000 IU (125 mcg) as cholecalciferol from algal (plant-derived) source - Vegan
- K2: 100 mcg as all-trans MK-7 (Vitamin K2 VITAL)
- Carrier: Organic coconut oil and non-GMO MCT oil in a veggie softgel
- Allergen: Contains tree nuts (coconut)
- Serving: 1 softgel daily
Most adults over 50 are deficient in both D3 and K2. D3 is synthesized from sunlight, and most people in northern latitudes - or who spend most of their time indoors - don't get enough. K2 is found primarily in fermented foods that most Western diets don't include. The combination addresses both gaps in a single softgel, at doses consistent with the clinical research on bone and cardiovascular outcomes.
